If you’re looking for an easy afternoon escape or a full weekend getaway in southeastern France, Sète is a perfect location. This coastal town sits right along the Mediterranean Sea and has a relaxed charm that’s worth the stop.

During a recent work trip, I found myself with a free weekend to explore. After spending the morning wandering the medieval streets of Carcassonne, I headed toward the coast and landed in Sète with no agenda, just looking to enjoy the beautiful views.

My first stop was at the beach which was stunning., It felt fairly different then an ocean as the waves were not as intense. I was hoping to take a dip, but didn’t have a swim suit, so I settled for a walk along the beach.

After my beach visit, I drove into town, found some parking and set off to walk along the coastal line here as well. This was more of a port area and had boats and sail boats all located in the habor

Walking around was so peaceful and the view continued to be amazing,

I was in the mood for a mid afternoon snack, after I fumbled through the language barrier (I don’t know any French, other then yes, no, and thank you), I was able to find some ice cream.

Conclusion

That wraps up my weekend touring. There are many other things to do here, but I only spent an afternoon. If I make it back to France, I definitely would like to visit again, soak in more of the environment and culture of this location. Salut!
